We will try a slightly different option for work assignments for the next several events; if it works, we'll keep the system.
There are two fields on the entry sheet where entrants can volunteer for a first and second choice of work assignment. Volunteers will be selected in the order in which entries arrive in the registration mailbox.
Available work assignments are:
Setup - 2 people to unload the trailer and set up the course. Must arrive at 7 am.
Registration - 2 people to check entrants in, collect waiver signatures, and issue wristbands. Must also maintain wait list and collect money at SPC. No novices. Must arrive at 7 am.
Tech inspection - 2 people to conduct technical safety inspection of all entrant cars according to checklist. No novices. Must arrive no later than 8 am.
Course marshal - 1 person to review and approve course design for safety issues prior to posting, review course once set up, and monitor event activities for compliance with insurance safety requirements and general safety common sense. No novices. Course marshals must undergo training prior to actually working this assignment.
Supplies - 1 person to coordinate with event chair prior to the event on required supplies, purchase and deliver supplies to event site by 9 am.
Run group calacution and work assignments - 1 person to divide the field into run groups and assign all entrants to work positions.
Timing - 2 people each run group to act as course control, operate timer, and enter penalties communicated by courseworkers. No novices.
Starter - 1 person each run group to control flow of cars onto course. No novices.
Grid - 1 person each run group to control flow of cars to start. Not recommended for novices.
Courseworkers - minimum 2 people each station each run group to reset cones, communicate penalties to timing, and act as safety observers on course, including halting cars with red flag if neccesary. This is the default work choice.
Teardown - 2 people to stack cones (reset police training course at SPC) and load the trailer.
