Humanist Electronics’ Delays

I have a Sony DVP-NS55P DVD/CD player. Pressing either of the power or open/close buttons causes a WELCOME message to scroll across the LCD before any action can take place. It takes a good 3-4 seconds and it drives me nuts.

WELCOME? Welcome to what, magic DVD player land? Listen, just open the damn tray so I can return Clue to Netflix.
