Saul Williams, Trent Reznor, and Music Distribution

niggy.jpgWould you pay $5 for a full album in digital download form if it was available, legally, for free? That’s the question Trent Reznor wanted answered. The Saul Williams and Nine Inch Nails collaboration The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust was made available for download at 192kbps bitrate for free or at 320kbps bitrate for $5.

81.7% of the downloaders couldn’t be bothered to cough up $5. More info can be found at Ars Technica.
