BBC “9/11: The Conspiracy Files”

On February 18th, the BBC aired 9/11: The Conspiracy Files. You can find the full show already at YouTube, albeit broken into a bunch of individual parts (part 1 took me 5 minutes to find).

There are a lot of “9/11 Conspiracy Theorists” who feel the program was grossly negligent and biased. At first, I agreed. After a few more hours of chewing on it, it became clear to me where the error was : This was not an investigative show about “What Happened on 9/11″. It was a show about conspiracy theorists and the conspiracy theories of 9/11. There’s a huge difference. Even considering that, I do feel the episode was poorly researched and displayed a tinted view.

I was about to enumerate my exact issues with the BBC show, but I see someone (and probably many others) have already done it for me. Here’s one of them. The most blatantly irresponsible act of the show, in my opinion, is depicting theorists as people who simply cannot stomach the horrific “real truth” - as if theorists are just emotionally incapable of coping with the idea that “hijackers did this and killed 3000 people”.

As an aside, I still remember saying to my coworker on 9/11/2001, “Wow. That building came down like a demolition.”

Keep your minds open and objective. Demand answers to the very substantial questions asked so far. Demand the full release of the “secret” tapes from cameras around the Pentagon. E T C.

The problem is most “inside job theorists” have “poisoned the well” with the most absurd and distracting nonsense. If anything, they have empowered the Bushistas over the past few years because the average American has been distracted from any specific focus by so many disparate paranoias. I mean what could be more offputting than two conspiracistas accusing each other of being “part of the problem.”

The thing about phony conspiracy theories is that they don’t oblige anyone to actually do anything except pass the hat.

What you do find with this documentary compared with what people like the Author of Loose Change is that it has interviews with actual
witnesses of the events all of who’s statements have been cannibalized and put out of context in shows like Loose Change.

The pilot of the C-130 flying past the Pentagon, just imagine how you would feel if people started to believe what he has been accused of.

The Coroner at Flight 93s crash site, totally misquoted by the theorists, just what is he being accused of after spending his entire career finding the truth behind peoples deaths?

The most telling thing about these guys is that none of them directly witnessed the events, nor have any of them any specific expertise in what they are claiming to have happened. Why are they being given so much credibility over those who are experts.

This suggestion that any expert who shows scientific proof that 9/11 was exactly what is was, a Terrorist attack, must have been funded by the US Government is just sad.

I am an Aircraft Technician from New Zealand, i have witnessed first hand aircraft crashes, and explosives. From all the evidence i have seen there is nothing that makes me think this was all faked. The whole scenario is consistent with the physical and eye witness evidence. This is not because i have chosen to close my eyes, its because i know what i am talking about.

    These Theorists don’t.

Unfortunately, for the sake of objective discussion and critical thinking, everyone “knows what they’re talking about.”

You’ll note that the authors of Loose Change admitted to misquoting the coroner. They didn’t in any way suggest “Oh, he’s changing his story now because he was talked to by the government!”

You have “psycho” theorists in this world and “people forever in search of at least a plausible truth”.

They’re not the same group of people, and unfortunately the world has a dangerous derision toward “all cnospiracy theorists”.

I get sick and tired of hearing 2nd rate confabulations that wouldn’t awaken a snoring cow but would fast put to sleep any 9 year old from bordom . These people who invent this non-sense do so for personal profit and self glorification by urinating on the memory of those who died . Big deal ! If I had a nickel for evey liar who conjured a conspiracy theory these days I’d be a multi-millionaire . They really need to relocate there headquarters away from there hindquarters ……..tl
