Elevator Buttons
Why aren’t the buttons in elevators toggle-able? You push ‘2′ by accident, wanting 3, and you’re screwed.
WHY?

I was thinking something similar today. Why aren’t the floors pressure sensitive, so that when a certain weight it met, it doesn’t stop on floors not requested. It took 3 elevators for me to get out of the building yesterday.
Probably for the same reason why you will always find an automobile with the accelerator pedal to the right of the break pedal. It is an established user interface that is so wide spread it would cause chaos if changed. In fact, due to strict standards and the economics built around the modern modular construction of elevators this type of change seems virtually impossible.

You mean in order to thwart people who, being last to exit an elevator, find it funny to mash all of the buttons inside?
