More TextDrive.com Hell

This morning, perhaps by a TextDrive staff member, or perhaps by a fanboy customer of theirs, I received email asking me to confirm a subscription to a gay porn mailing list. Seems someone took it upon themselves to try to get my email address subscribed.

This is the level of maturity involved with these people. Keep it coming, guys. Dig yourself in deeper and deeper and spread the bad word even further every time you push me to make another front-page post here.

Who sent the email? You say “perhaps by a TextDrive staff member, or perhaps by a fanboy customer of theirs. Well, which was it? Could it have been neither?

The chances it could have been neither are amazingly small.

There is no way to tell who did it. All I received was a standard notice in my mailbox that someone was trying to register my email address somewhere for a mailing list. It wasn’t a standard Majordomo/Mailman type confirmation. It had HTML formatting, etc.

Luckily I have automatic image loading disabled in Thunderbird.

I see. So from this point on anything bad that happens to you is a result of a massive conspiracy by TextDrive to try to shut you up?

You have an overinflated sense of your own importance, Jeff, and I’ve remarked on this before. I’m glad you finally posted that thread publicly so people can actually see what happened, including all those nice, polite, informative responses you got from TextDrive staff members, without having to go through a filter of your own self-aggrandizement first.

You seriously have a massive selective reading problem, man. What part of “or perhaps by a fanboy customer of theirs” do you not get?

Let’s see. After being on the net 13 years, I have never once received such an email subscription notice, clearly from a 3rd party playing a prank.

All of this “blows up” on 12/1 and I get one.

Gee, I am sure it wasn’t a TXD fanboy or TXD staff member trying to subscribe me to a gay porn mailing list.

Give it up, James. You have an extremely bizarre perspective on things that I assure you is in the extreme minority.

Every single person who has emailed me for that the .zip file has mailed me back later with comments to the effect of “They booted you for THAT!? I’m stunned after reading it.”

But please, by all means, continue posting in this thread so that it pops up more and more in peoples RSS readers. I’m confident in every ounce of exposure to this situation. I urge you to continue dragging it out when, this morning, I had decided to let it go from my side unless provoked more.

    What. the. HELL?

You got booted for that? Your tone in there was fine by me, you were rational, reasonable, and completely forthright. In fact, I can’t even see why you’d apologize in your comments for any of your behavior there. Jason was a complete spaz, just banning you as he did. That seriously bothers me.

You should post that entire thread online. It proves your point. You were treated horribly.”

I saw the thread on TextDrive where Jason was extremely rude and totally out of line towards you (I am still in shock).”

Shall I continue? Or has the 1000 unique visitors to these posts of mine in 2 days been enough for you folks? 97 of them are customers of yours who found the link in a post by someone in your forums.

Um. I went out to a bar, and came back and found you’d been talking to yourself here a good bit. Anyway, I still don’t get it.

You, personally, Jeff, went into the forum and launched an abusive tirade, going off on people who replied politely to you. You, personally, Jeffe, chose to ignore information that had already been posted and discussed which acknowledged that there were stability problems and that new infrastructure is being put into place to resolve this. You, personally, Jeff, continued to act like an unapologetic dick in that forum thread after being warned. You, personally, Jeff, got your account cancelled thanks to your behavior.

TextDrive’s acceptable use policy includes a section on exercising “reasonable etiquette”, and a clause which says that violation of the acceptable use policy is grounds for account termination. Seems pretty cut and dried to me; maybe you can forward this explanation to some of your fans and see if they still feel you were just an innocent victim, “gang raped” (in your words) by TextDrive.

If it had been me, I would have booted you long before; I used to do customer service for a living, and I learned real quick how to tell the difference between someone who wants to resolve a problem and someone who just wants to scream at someone. As it was, you were allowed to go on acting like a dick for a good long while.

And, Jeff, I know you’re in a very confused place, but they aren’t “customers of mine”. I don’t work for TextDrive. Although it doesn’t seem to matter here, because anyone who disagrees with you is automatically “one of them”, apparently.

Yes, James, we all have heard how you see it.

You’ve told us all at least 4 times now.

You’re a lone man with a unique take on the situation in a sea of people who have come to a completely opposite conclusion with their own free minds.

Good for you and your conviction about your phenomenally rare perspective.

I have mine as well: Getting pissy about absolutely horrid service I paid for is not grounds for account termination.

And for what it’s worth, not so “lone”. I’ve shown your antics around to a few folks, and generally the response has been “wow, I’m surprised they put up with that asshole for so long”.

To each his own, I guess.

Form your own opinions folks. I’v replaced James’ link to his blog above with a link to the zip file. That is all that is relevant in this.

Not my words in my blog. Not his words in a 900000000 word essay he wrote at his blog with his stunningly unique take on the situation.

And James, you’re right about a single thing: I was not gang-raped in the forums. Bad choice of wording on my part.
