The “Someday, Maybe” List

The last 2 weeks have had me realizing that I am way too interested in way too many things (a great thing!). More for me than for you, I’m jotting down the items that have returned to my head more than once after being overcome by lack of time previously.

  • Learn the basics of Inkscape
  • Add Ruby to my programming language arsenal (have tried to make it through Programming Ruby 2nd Edition twice now but been distracted)
  • Read The High-Speed Internal Combustion Engine
  • Finish making a stand for bird bath (finished one and it was no good)
  • Put up some form of shelving in garage (block walls)
  • Spend more time drawing and exploring artistic outlets
  • Develop a small money-making web site for a little 2nd monthly income (ads)
  • Learn Javascript, AJAX, and Ruby on Rails to make a next-generation “trouble ticket” system (Not holding my breath)
  • Read the 6 books I have stacked up
  • Finish taking “Learning ArcGIS 9” web course (20% complete)
  • Examine Puppet for a few hours
  • As I write this blog entry, the shared host serving Thrashing Stinks is down again for at least the 6th time in 2 months. Task: Go through the time-sink hell of switching hosting and migrating data. More than likely I will continue to suffer with TextDrive’s hosting. Update: Still writing this blog entry. The host came up finally and crashed again for a different reason within an hour.
  • Explore ZFS a lot now that it is finally out. I’ve put a couple hours in already and it looks great.

And about 20 other things I am forgetting.

I’m curious about the next-generation “trouble ticket” system. What sort of features do you envision?

    Hi Will,

Really I haven’t had the time to give it much thought yet.

It just seems like such an obviously interaction-heavy application that it would be great to implement with AJAX.

Just one of those “someone definitely should do this” kind of things right now :)

Fair enough. :) I agree, someone definitely should do this.
