Boy would it be awful nice if TextDrive, my hosting company, could get their shit together. The shared-server host my site, domain, and email are on has been up and down close to 3-4 times per week for the last 3 weeks. At the time of this offline write-up, the box is up, but the load is 31 (it was 20 5 minutes ago).
What’s cool too is the web stats system I paid for no longer functioning due to a licensing transition problem which could have been avoided had the migration to new servers been planned more comprehensively.
Did I forget to mention that every time the box goes down hard it has to perform a filesystem check for 10+ minutes because they’re not using any sort of journaling filesystem?
I’ve just about had enough.

FYI — my communication with textdrive:
Good for you. It’s always worthwhile to spend some time on an issue that you know about 10 percent of.
See you around then.

Jason,
My name is Joshua. I’m in no way affiliated with user “jblaine,” I’m not a textdrive customer, nor am I in particular need of hosting at this point in time. However, I was browsing consumerist.com today, and saw a link to the rather nasty dispute you had with this user.
No need to rail about how your apparent haughtiness is exactly what’s wrong with customer service today. Suffice it to say that, over the next few months, I am making it my mission to do my absolute best in my limited circles of influence (Capitol Hill staffer, evening law student, weekend e-biz entrepeneur) to make sure that no one I know EVER uses textdrive.
Jblaine came to you guys with a legimate, well-reasoned, relatively level-headed complaint, given the circumstances. You responded in a meanspirited (“dick”??) and childish fashion, going so far as cancelling his account. So I’m going to wage my own personal business war on this one, and try to take a little bit of business away from you guys in my small corner of the world. You deserve it, and any other business like you that doesn’t know how to treat its customers.
Joshua
